For many years I’ve collaborated with visual artist Helmut Lohr. Our first piece together was called “Two,” and was based on Helmut’s stunning cutup of a score for Beethoven’s Second Symphony. We also collaborated on a series of scores by John Cage. Our most recent work together is called “Early Morning Song” and is based on Helmut’s photo collage of the same name. Sadly, the piece is no longer just a collaboration but a tribute. Helmut suddently passed away on Christmas morning. This is a great loss. I’ll always treasure our work together as well as our friendship and his faith in my music. The piece will be shown at Helmut’s Gallery in the spring. A link will be posted.
