The View From Here combines composition and improvisation with acoustics and electronics. The sessions were recorded live in the studio in 2008 with Pat Irwin on electric guitar, Marco Benevento on piano, electronics and bent circuits, Marc Friedman on bass and Kevin Norton on vibes and drums. Joe Magistro later added drums, percussion and loops and Patrick Derivaz, who records and mixes the music to “Bored To Death,” recorded the sessions and contributed double bass.
Check out Marco’s recordings and live tour dates at www.marcobenevento.com. He’s been a fixture on the NY jazz and improvisation scene since the late ’90’s and can also be heard as part of the Benevento Russo duo.
Kevin Norton has played drums with many of the great improvisers including Anthony Braxton, John Zorn and Fred Frith. He has many recordings as a composer and a leader on his own label, “Barking Hoop.” He was also the drummer on every soundtrack for “Rocko’s Modern Life.”
Marc Friedman is best known as the bassist in the Slip as well as Surprise Me Mr. Davis.
